18 Jun Hail Damage Again in Richland – Union SC RECORD Storms!
Hail , storms, high wind causing massive amounts of trees to fall like matchsticks, high winds, power outages and more!
While media is reporting quarter sized hail, we have seen hail as large as golf balls and the damage to roofs and windshields through the region as a result of these storms. This latest one tore through the capital city initially knocking out power for 35,000 but, before it was over the numbers had risen to 100,000+ without electricity. South Carolina Electric and Gas Co. has stated there was 30 times more outages than expected.
Damaged roofs are present everywhere! Cars peppered with dents caused by the hail are common as well. This morning people woke up to find trees down and are assessing the damage to see what must be addressed immediately.
No deaths reported as of this writing!
The weather service is reporting dime to half-dollar sized hail through areas including but not limited to: Union Richland and Columbia counties.
TheState.com, WLTX, WISTV.com and all other local news organizations are reporting scattered damage which is consistent in nature … damaged roofs, siding, automobiles, trees down and power lines down as well. Caution is advised!
