Christmas in September-Reeves Roof Gutters

It’s Christmas time! Okay; not quite, but it’s almost Christmas!

… Alright, so it’s not even almost Christmas time, but it is about to be Christmas Shopping Season. You may not be in the mood for Christmas songs and twinkling lights just yet, and frankly, you may never be in the mood for Christmas songs and twinkling lights, but there’s one thing you want to make sure you don’t put off until Black Friday: ensuring your roof is up to handling the winter ahead.

This winter, due to the unique combination of the strongest El Niño since the 1950s and a major influx of Arctic Air, our weather region, including the northern two-thirds of Georgia and most of the Carolinas, is expected to have fierce ice storms and above average snowfall beginning in early 2016. This means sheets of ice and snow attached to your roof for days at the time, melting, refreezing, expanding, melting again, and soaking the sheathing (generally plywood) for extended periods of time. In normal circumstances, this is a risk to your roof, but if you have even minor damage resulting from hurricane or hail season, your roof will be significantly more vulnerable during this particularly intense winter, with the notably raised risk of roof rot and interior leaks.

Generally, people wait until spring to get a new roof, worried about accumulating cold weather damage right after a new install; however, the fact of the matter is, an unchecked roof is a gamble. Hail, hurricane, and wind damage is all covered by your homeowner’s insurance; cold weather damage is not. Additionally, previously damaged roofs react more severely to cold weather and winter storms, and, in turn, costs more money to repair, as the damage is more extensive and is not covered by insurance. Avoid interior leaks and rotted sheathing next year by signing up for a free roof inspection with Reeves, now. We’ll check for current damage and be able to tell you if a new roof should be in your plans for fall.

El Niño has spent this summer pitching a fit of royal proportions, and there are more storms to come; don’t let this summer take the fun out of upcoming winter snow. Call Reeves today at (864)574-1290 to schedule your free inspection or ask us any questions you may have. We never charge more than your deductible and we always handle the claim alongside you from beginning to end. Let us take care of you, so you can spend the holidays enjoying your family.
